6/3 baseball: Coady ignites Aquinas to win over Westby(2009/06/09) Aquinas High School leadoff batter Jimmy Coady hit the first pitch he saw to right field, and things went downhill from there for Westby on Wednesday.
5/30 girls soccer: Columbus 2, Aquinas 1 (OT)(2009/06/02) Amanda Marks’ goal one minute into overtime helped Columbus eliminate the Blugolds from postseason play. Kylie Mannion gave Aquinas a 1-0 lead off an assist by Kristine Schill in the first half.
5/28 D1 girls soccer: AQUINAS 3, WISCONSIN HEIGHTS 1(2009/05/30) The Blugolds gave up a goal less than two minutes into the game, but scored three times to advance to a Division 3 regional final at top-seeded columbus on Saturday. Junior Beth Schmidt had a goal and an assist for Aquinas, which allowed two shots on goal.
5/28 D2 boys tennis: Team champion: Aquinas 45(2009/05/30) The Blugolds won the Marshfield Columbus sectional and earned their third straight team to the WIAA state team tournament, which will be held June 12-13 at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison. Aquinas’ Bobby Steingraeber qualified for the state individual tournament at No. 1 singles, and the Blugolds’ No. 1 doubles team of Peter Coppola and Will Reckase also qualified.
5/27 boys golf: Division 2: River Valley Regional(2009/05/28) Team champion: Platteville 333 Viroqua and Prairie du Chien each finished with 361 strokes, which was three more than the fourth — and final — sectional qualifying spot. Platteville (333), Mount Horeb (341), Lancaster (353) and River Valley (358) each qualified for the sectional meet. Viroqua’s Joe Poshepny shot a 6 over-par 78, the second best score of the day, to advance. PdC’s Will Davis (81) also advanced, while Viroqua’s Ben Endicott (84) lost to Dodgeville’s Peter Thuli in a playoff for the third individual qualifying spot.
5/26 softball: Aquinas 9, Melrose-Mindoro 6(2009/05/27) The Blugolds jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and never looked back. Jordan Martin struck out five and walked one for Aquinas while Angie Schneider went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and four RBI. Jordan Blaken was 3-4 with a double for the Mustangs.

5/23 Baseball: Vegel, Aquinas overpower Luther(2009/05/26) Sophomore Andy Vegel hit his first home run of the season, and the Aquinas High School baseball team picked up its second straight victory on Saturday.
5/22 softball: AQUINAS 4, RIVER RIDGE 2(2009/05/23) The Blugolds knocked off the Timberwolves, who are ranked fifth in Division 4, by scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth inning. A throwing error allowed Taylor Boland

5/21 tennis: MVC Championship(2009/05/22) Team champion: Onalaska 67 Central senior Victor Mirasola won his fourth conference title and second straight at No. 1 singles. The Hilltoppers swept all three doubles flights and received a singles title from Alex Inman at No. 4.
5/19 softball: Aquinas 5, Central 4(2009/05/21) Jordan Martin belted a bases-loaded double to push across three runs in Aquinas’ five-run third inning. The Blugolds also received a RBI single from Jenny Gallagher in the inning. Anna Munson had two hits for Central, which outhit Aquinas 7-5.
WIAA rethinking stance on private schools(2009/05/17) STEVENS POINT — Members of the WIAA Board of Control saw for the first time Friday a proposal to move up one division private schools in the WIAA Division 3 and 4 basketball tournaments that meet a specific demographic profile.
5/15 baseball: Aquinas 11, Eau Claire Regis 1(2009/05/17) Jimmy Coady, Mickey Voss and Cory Vegel all scored on passed balls for the Blugolds in their five-run fourth inning. Garrett Hebel and Andy Vegel combined on a six-hitter for Aquinas.
5/14 girls soccer: AQUINAS 0, TOMAH 0 (Aquinas wins shootout 4-2)(2009/05/15) Tomah had an apparent goal disallowed in overtime, leading to a shootout. Meggie Gaspars, Sloan Kessler, Kristine Schill and Abbey Lowenstein scored in the shootout to help the Blugolds advance to the MVC tournament title game.
5/14 baseball: AQUINAS 12, TOMAH 0 (5)(2009/05/15) Andy Fuchs and Mike Czeiska combined on a one-hitter for the Blugolds. Cory Vegel’s two-run triple highlighted Aquinas’ six-run second inning. Bobby Kachel had a solo home run in the third.
5/14 softball: AQUINAS 2, TOMAH 0(2009/05/15) Taylor Boland had 15 strikeouts and pitched a shutout for the Blugolds. Boland also scored Aquinas’ insurance run in the sixth inning. Angie Schneider had a double in the second inning, driving in the Blugolds’ first run.
5/12 girls soccer: Aquinas 1, Logan 0(2009/05/14) Kylie Mannion scored in the 85th minute, ending what had been a scoreless battle through regulation, to give the Blugolds the win in a MVC tournament quarterfinal at Fields for Kids. Karissa Wallerich had six saves for Aquinas, while Jazzy Weber recorded four for Logan.
5/12 softball: Aquinas 7, Onalaska 4(2009/05/14) Kelly Schams had an RBI triple for the Blugolds in their four-run fifth inning, and teammate Jordan Martin and Angie Schneider both added run-scoring doubles. Schams and Taylor Boland both had three hits.
