9/6 girls cross country: Jami Hill likes her Onalaska teammates
Onalaska High School senior Jami Hill is one of the top girls cross country runners in the state. And there is a strong chance she will be competing at the NCAA Division I level next year.
But Hill knows the Hilltoppers are a strong team, one that could challenge for a WIAA Division 1 state title. Here is what she had to say about Onalaska’s other top runners:
JAMIE BURR
YEAR: Sophomore
2007 HIGHLIGHTS: Finished fifth at MVC meet. ... Finished 87 in Division 1 at WIAA state meet.
WHAT HILL SAYS: “Jamie is the life of the party. She’s the person that makes you laugh all the time and makes running fun.”
JACKIE GROSHEK
YEAR: Sophomore
2007 HIGHLIGHTS: Finished eighth at MVC meet. ... Finished 135th at state meet.
WHAT HILL SAYS: “I can’t remember the last time Jackie missed a practice. She’s always there for you and never lets you down.”
MADDIE HIBSHMAN
YEAR: Sophomore
2007 HIGHLIGHTS: Finished second at MVC meet. ... Finished 49th at state meet.
WHAT HILL SAYS: “Maddie and I work well together. ... She’s quiet, but once you get to know her she’s not.”
KATIE HILL
YEAR: Senior
2007 HIGHLIGHTS: Finished sixth at MVC meet and 36th at state meet in her first year out for cross country.
WHAT JAMI HILL SAYS ABOUT HER TWIN SISTER: “Katie’s still figuring things out, but she’s getting the hang of it. She pushes me because she’s my sister.”
